Things To Do and Places To Go In New Jersey
This music video is worth watching even if you have been a resident of New Jersey for many years. It draws out many nice memories of having actually been to many of the places shown in the video.
Even as a long time resident of NJ, I found the video captivating as I watched to find out if there were any places that I have yet to see.
It is nice to see how nice NJ really is, especially after hearing bad things like how NJ smells ..etc.
Visit the Mining Museum In Ogdensburg NJ
The Sterling Hill Mining Museum is located in Ogdensburg, Sussex County, New Jersey. The museum was opened in 1989 at the site of the Sterling Hill Mine which was the last working underground mine in New Jersey.
Mining began at the site in 1730, when it was mistakenly thought to be a copper deposit. George III of the United Kingdom granted the property to William Alexander, titled Lord Stirling. Stirling sold it to Robert Ogden in 1765. It went through several owners until the various mines were combined into the New Jersey Zinc Company in 1897. The mine closed in 1986 due to a tax dispute with the town, which foreclosed for back taxes in 1988 and auctioned the property to Richard and Robert Hauck for $750,000. (read more here)

NJ Parkour & Freerunning Facility
Here is another first for New Jersey. Pinnacle Parkour Academy's facility in Sicklerville NJ is the first facility on the east coast that is dedicated to Parkour and Freerunning.
Parkour (French pronunciation: [paʁˈkuʁ]) (abbreviated PK), also called "the art of displacement", is a training discipline of movement and holistic well-being. The simplest way to visualize parkour is that of street gymnastics; while this may describe the closely related activity freerunning, it misses the practical philosophy of parkour.
Practitioners aim to move quickly and efficiently through their environment using only their bodies and their surroundings to propel themselves, negotiating obstacles in between. They try to maintain as much momentum as possible without being unsafe. Parkour can include running, climbing, swinging, vaulting, spinning, jumping, rolling, quadrupedal movement and more, if they are the most suitable movem…

The Krueger mansion holds a piece of Newark NJ history that is too precious to forget. The house has 6 story tower with balcony with 360 degree view of the city. It was one of the first houses with an elevator, the largest house in Newark.
In the mid 90's restoration plans were developed and started. However, due to cost overruns and waning interest the restoration process was halted after about 7 years.
The mansion was a monument of success for Gottfried Krueger, one of the big 5 beer brewers. He was a German immigrant who worked his way up from sweeping floors in his uncles brewery. The mansion had 3 stories 40 rooms and a brass domed stained glass obelisk, the home was extremely opulent. The mansion was completed in 1889 and cost $250k, the most expensive home in the city.
The Krueger family moved out after World War I and the mansion was then sold to a construction company and then the Scottish Rite Masons. It has been said that Ed Koch once worked in the coatroom . Th…
